ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a three-year term faculty position at the Associate Professor level in the field of Mineralogical Crystallography. This position is associated with a currently held Tier I CRC Chair, and the position is intended to support research and teaching in the general area of Mineralogical Crystallography.
The Department of Geological Sciences is well-equipped for research in Crystallography and Mineralogy, with the following instrumentation: two single-crystal X-ray diffractometers (one 4K CCD detector, one serial detector), two X-ray powder diffractometers, a microbeam infrared spectrometer, a Cameca SX100 electron microprobe, a LA-ICP-MS, much associated hardware and software, and outstanding technical support.
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Crystallography, significant research and teaching experience, a significant international reputation and a major publication record in the area of Mineralogical Crystallography. In order to complement existing programs of research in the department, expertise is essential in the crystallography and crystal chemistry of titanium-silicate minerals, phosphate minerals, amphiboles and micas.
